HUSCO Automotive Holdings Wins 2012 Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Award

Austin Ramirez, CEO of HUSCO International, announced today that HUSCO Automotive, a fully owned subsidiary, has been named the 2012 Special Award winner for Technology, Innovation and Impact at the prestigious Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year Awards. The winner was announced Thursday night at a black tie banquet honoring the 58 nominees.
Since its inception in 1999, HUSCO Automotive has enjoyed a rapidly growing business focused on reducing emissions and improving the fuel economy of passenger cars and trucks. The company has developed a wide range of engine and transmission technologies that increase miles per gallon performance including components used in variable valve timing, variable oil pumps, advanced transmissions and other innovative applications that can be seen today on cars like the Ford Mustang, FORD’s F-150 truck (the most popular vehicle in North America), Fiat 500, Chevrolet Silverado, Chrysler’s Ram Truck, and many more.
“The products that HUSCO Automotive manufactured in 2012 will save more fuel than the combined total of every electric vehicle ever manufactured around the planet. Although I think that statistic should put us on the front page of USA Today, this award was a good step in the right direction,” notes Austin Ramirez, CEO of HUSCO International.
HUSCO manufacturers auto products in two factories in the USA including its facilities in Waukesha and Whitewater, Wisconsin and its factory in Shanghai, China. The Automotive Division was formed in 1999 when HUSCO launched serial production of a suspension program with Mercedes Benz, the first time Mercedes procured an engineered hydraulic component from a USA manufacturer. Since 2009, HUSCO Automotive sales have increase five-fold and 2013 sales will increase another 50%.

Being named the Manufacturer of the Year caps off a very successful year that also had HUSCO Automotive named a Preferred “Aligned Business Framework” Supplier for Ford Motor Company in addition to securing record new business commitments. The preferred supplier distinction is shared with only 78 production suppliers across the globe. This success is due not only to HUSCO’s innovative products but also to the dedication and determination of its employees to maintain the highest quality and delivery standards in the automotive industry.
“Although our product story is great, we have also created over 100 full-time jobs at HUSCO in Wisconsin plus ten times that number at our suppliers,” says Todd Zakreski, President of HUSCO Automotive. “From 2010 to 2013 HUSCO will invest almost $100 million in our Wisconsin and China facilities.”
HUSCO International is a certified minority-owned manufacturing company based in Waukesha, Wisconsin. HUSCO Automotive is an engineering, development and production enterprise established to service on-highway vehicle manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers. HUSCO designs electro-hydraulic components that improve the overall efficiency and driving performance of passenger cars & trucks as well as a global leader that provides products to manufacturers in Europe, China and Japan in addition to companies in the United States.
HUSCO's General Manager of Shanghai Operations Interviewed in FTimes.

In a down market, Jim Denomme, General Manager of HUSCO Hydraulics’ Shanghai talks about his process for staying profitable. Featured in an article in FESCO’s FTimes magazine, he talks about how HUSCO’s Shanghai facility is working through the Chinese slowdown and how corporate culture makes a difference.
Within the article Jim goes on to outline his managerial philosophy and the strategies that keep the Shanghai facility going during these challenging times. Focusing on making daily improvements to the manufacturing process has helped to build efficiencies and meet customer goals. Looking forward and planning for long term development in the face of the market has also made a difference in the Shanghai facility’s performance.
Turning “Human Resources” into “Human Capital” is the other aspect that has brought success to Jim and HUSCO’s Shanghai facility. Being more strategic about specialized new hires has helped expand the business by focusing on market-oriented thinkers, especially when looking for members of sales and customer service.
“The first element of the HUSCO culture is integrity, without which anyone shall be kept away from HUSCO; the second element is the pursuit of customer satisfaction, ” says Jim.
Providing employees with career development paths has helped motivate employees with growth potential. HUSCO also sponsors high-potential employees to attend overseas training, further sharpening its workforce. The focus goes beyond HUSCO’s engineering focus by training up finance, quality, HR and other areas to keep all departments on the forefront.
